Welcome to IAEE Washington D.C. Chapter

Greetings from the Chair

Welcome to the IAEE DC Chapter Website!

Debbie DysonHappy New Year! I am honored and proud to serve as your 2013 Chair for the IAEE DC Chapter.   I have spent the past several years on the Board in the presence of some dedicated industry peers. I would like to thank those who have come before me and those who are still serving with me, DeVonne Parks, Susan Bennett, Amy Durkin, Karen Miller, Andy Ortale, Bill McGlade, Donna Johnson, Amy Ladd, Dede Walsh and Ronnie Schaer…thank you for your friendship, advice and continued support of our chapter and the entire exhibits industry.

As I head into New  Year and my new role as Chair of the IAEE DC Chapter with thoughts about the industry, economy and our Chapter, three words always come to mind, Community, Education and Volunteers.

Community: Booker T .Washington once said “Those who are happiest, are those who do the most for others”,  the quote resonates with me and  giving back to the community is one of the most important goals I have for the DC Chapter this year.   The DC Chapter will support two charities again this year, Exhibit 4 Smiles and the Capital Area Food Bank. We want to continue on the success we had with both programs in 2012; as a Chapter we raised $1,500 for the Exhibit 4 Smiles program, a program dedicated to making the lives of terminally ill children happier. We sorted food at the Capital Area Food Bank on 2 separate occasions, helping the Food Bank reach its goals of distributing over 30 million pounds of food to over 450,000 people in our region struggling with hunger.

Education:  An ongoing goal for me and that of the Board is to continue to bring our members educational programs that address your real life business concerns and organize high level networking events with your peers. We have received great feedback from our surveys and will be implementing some of your suggestions throughout the year; however we are always open to hearing other suggestions that you may have, please contact a member of the Board to discuss any topics or events you would like to see initiated. Your participation in our Chapter is paramount to our success!

Volunteers: Volunteer! Volunteer! Volunteer! At the core of every group, are the people who lend a hand to help make it better. Help us by working together to strengthen our Chapter and our profession; help IAEE meet the ever-changing needs of its membership by volunteering your services on one of our committees…Marketing, Community Outreach, Advertising, Special Events or Programs.  Visit the volunteer tab at www.iaeedc-chapter.com to submit your information or contact Vice Chair and Volunteer Coordinator Karen Miller; We look forward to seeing you on our committee roster!

As we continue into 2013, please remember to peruse the IAEE DC Chapter website at www.iaeedc-chapter.com for information about DC Chapter activities and information.  You will also find contact information for the 2013 IAEE DC Chapter Board, we are here to serve you and welcome all comments, concerns or questions.

I hope everyone had a great holiday season and are well on your way to achieving New Year resolutions you may have made, let’s have a GREAT 2013 and thank you again for this opportunity to serve you!

Sincerely,

Debbie Dyson, CEM
